The easiest way to add permanent subs to your video clip.

The only thing you need is a movie file(.avi, .mpg, etc) a subtitle

file(.srt, .sub, etc) and TMPGEnc XPress.

This is recommended if you use a media server/center without subtitle file support, would like to play your .avi, .divx file on your dvd divx player, or have trouble getting subtitle files to work in media players.

1. You have to start a new project.

2. Then you have to add your video file.

3. At "clip properties" you can change anything if you like, but this shouldn't be nessesary. Then "OK".

4. Now you would like to add a filter, souch as subtitles. Hit the "Filter edit" button.

5. As you can see, Subtitles can not be found at your Filter list, so now you have to choos "Edit filter list" to add subtitles to the list.

6. Choose Subtitles from the Filter catalog, click Add, then Ok.

7. Choose Subtitles in the left menu, then Edit Menu, at the Edit menu you have to choose Import Subtitles. Then locate your subtitle file from your computer. Now you should see a lot of text in the white area under the black video screen. If you like you can hit the play button to check that the subs are correct. Then the "OK" button.

8. Now you must choose "Format" from the top of the program, wich format you use is up to you, I recommend "DivX file output" with High Quality level for use at most computers, media servers and dvd players with divx support.

9. Then choose high quality level again, if you choose advanced mode you can set the bitrate higher or lower depending on wich quality and filesize you want. The file size you can see in the bottom right corner. If you would like to cut your file into two pieces or more, choose File partitioning.

10. When you are done with pt. 9 choose "Encode" from the top menu. Hit browse to choose where you want to save your file. I recommend to save the file as a .avi and not a . divx. This to make sure it plays everywhere you like. You can change this later on to if you like by simply renaming the file in windows from .divx o .avi.

Then hit the Encode button in the bottom left corner.

You are done!
